The Box Office Bears team share some news about recent publications and the announcement of our forthcoming monograph, Box Office Bears: Bears and Baiting in Early Modern England.
In July, the Box Office Bears team visited Wildwood Trust in Kent. Wildwood has three rescued captive bears, who are living new lives in a large, wooded enclosure at the Trust.
An exhibition on bears is being held at the University of Nottingham Museum of Archaeology from July 8th to December 31st 2023.

We’ll be at HistFest 2023 with a stall of bear-related delights on April 29th - 30th at the British Library.

Two months ago, I had the privilege of travelling with some early modern bear bones from Oxford to Nottingham. These bear bones were found during excavations by MOLA in Southwark in London, and were analysed for zooarchaeology and isotopes in Nottingham, before being taken to Oxford to be sampled for ancient DNA analysis.
